A Little About…..

Poetry is a deal of joy and pain and wonder, with a dash of the dictionary.
                                                                                                                                             ~Kabran

River has the heart of a poet and the eyes of an artist. She sees the world through a lens of creation filtered through imagination. River lives in the St Croix Valley of Minnesota with her daughter Willow and all their pets. Her poetic writings and artistic touches reflect her Ojibwe and Celtic heritages along with her ponderings being a forty something American mother. River’s first publication, Stumbled & Standing, is a collection of poetry and essay focused on life with Multiple Sclerosis. Her second publication, Women’s Obsession with Shoes, is a creative nonfiction of memoirs by women about life through a pair of shoes. River is a facilitator of the Mulberry Street Poets in Stillwater and a member of the TGI Frybread poetry group in Minneapolis.

Poetry is a life-cherishing force. For poems are not words, after all, but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost, something as necessary as bread in the pockets of the hungry.”      ~Mary Oliver
