Ancient Stones- A Villanelle (rewrite)

                Ancient Stones

Stones whisper the truths of historyrocks
buried deep below our pit of fear
ancient tongues tell stories of mystery

carried by water they travel swiftly
tumbling between realms and here
stones whisper the truths of history

only a few hear without prudery
bestowed a gift with a special ear
ancient tongues tell stories of mystery

they ride through centuries on a journey
sharing tales of times that they appear
stones whisper the truths of history

you must believe with no trickery
or their wisdom will dissolve in midair
ancient tongues tell stories of mystery

stones tell tales forgotten in memory
the day we ran from nature’s sphere
stones keep the truths of all history
ancient tongues tell stories of mystery
