Four Tests

A wise woman once told me
pay attention
for obstacles that block
your next move,
crossing your path by four.

Our first were the lies
mixed with rings
and the roar of a Harley.

We passed that test
then came upon the second,
meshed with the third,
in a twisted saga
ending with cops charging
a freak that tweaked.

Marking trials of difficulty,
carrying our story
beyond, testing
to ensure
we were ready.

We found faith,
survived as cards played out
and the fourth moved by.

The wise woman once told me
you’re on the right path
when you pass
four tests of difficulty.
