Waters rise along the Emerald Isle
washing away the ashes of past fear
she carries their dream within her smile.

Flowing in a tears array for awhile
he holds her close and always near
waters rise along the Emerald Isle.

Laid among bright lilies of the Nile
dressed in the gentleness of a deer
she carries their dream within her smile.

Swelling, a vessel waits out the mile
singing aboard a celestial sphere
waters rise along the Emerald Isle.

Time comes to prepare their new style
soon an altering life change will appear
she carries their dream within her smile.

Knowledge of instinct wrapped with trial
guides them towards the womb’s premier
she carries their dream within her smile
waters rise along the Emerald Isle.

  1. A lovely poem, River. I love the theme of the Emerald Isle and the line,

‘she carries their dream within her smile’ is gorgeous and works well within the villanelle form

    makes me smile a lot
