Seeress

In the grays of mid-winter
an earthy aroma drifts
through the thoughts of a dreaming mind
balanced on the fine line
between time,
and the layers of scattered

chopsticks thrown in play
beneath a torn cocoon
slowly unraveling
the spinning reels
that holds images of
our collective thought.

She uses two with skill
and carefully she picks up one
bestowing her bits of wisdom,
screen shots of now and later.

Peering into the dusk
she pulls herself back
as footsteps inch closer
and aromas thicken,
he hands her a steaming cup

and they share sips while
she tells him her visions.

  1. Interesting poem; I liked the lines
    chopsticks thrown in play
    beneath a torn cocoon.
I wonder if all the stanzas would work better if they were the same length? It would appeal to my sense of order. Thanks, it has made me think.

  2. Lovely atmosphere to this one, River. The chopstick are a nice, unexpected image that really add something for me. Enjoyable read and satisfying ending.
